| Square and chamfer the ends of the 1/2" handle retainers, mark a line 3/4" down from the top on the side and another 1 1/4" up from the bottom. Clamp the parts to a piece of scrap and measure in from the scrap side 1/8" then drill 4 3/8" holes about 1 1/4" deep in both parts. Unclamp the parts and put some clear tape on the scrap. Cut 2 lengths of rope 9" long, fill the holes in the handle retainers with glue and clamp them to the taped scrap. Squeeze them till the rope is crushed flat. Leave them to dry for a couple of hours. When they are dry sand the back flat. Then cut them so one rope has 2 2 1/2" retainers, the others will be 1 1/2". |
