616 checking in. Received Invoice. Look forward to getting updates. I was hoping (unreasonably so) that it woul be finished this week so I could drop by and pick it up on a business trip but I suppose I will need to be more patient.

we have finally started on the brens, we started wed afternoon and after 2 1/2 days made some good progress. the interiors are almost fully machined as well as the exteriors.

Inside we need to machine the bbl locking nut area and machine the slots for the lower and bolt carrier. The exteriors have most of the welds machined and ground. after all the machining is done we will go over them with flap wheels then blast them and touch up any cosmetic spots on the welds. so far we have been able to preserve all the markings and stamps.

after machining we will machine and fit the bolt carriers, bolts and lowers.

I numbered the receivers so you can pick out yours.

Made some good progress on the brens today, got started a little after 6am and by the end of the dat finished machining all the welds and slots and bbl lock nut pockets in the receivers. all the bbl nuts and bbls are fitted as are the lowers and bolt carriers.

Tomorrow I will finish machining the bolts, and bolt carriers it wil take about 10 to 12 hours to complete taht, then it is on to the lowers. with a little luck the first 6 will be ready to test fire early next week.

here are a few photos.

The pictures remind me of going to the nursery at the hospital and seeing my baby identified by the name on the crib. Brings a tear to my eye seeing old 616. Can't wait to see the new wood on it. Thanks for the update.

we are moving right along on the first 6 guns, we are almost done with the machine work on the bolt carriers, today we machined off the sears and the nose of the bolt ramp and are cutting the firing pin slots in the mini mill. that will be done tomorrow. tomorrow we will do the cuts on the bolts and install the semi firing pins, new pistons and do the welding and triggers on the lowers. we should start first assembly friday to check the fcg's and strikers and fit of all the rest of the parts.
